De Heldere Nacht Opens Nov. 3

Ming Toy Gallery is pleased to host Jeanne C. Langan's De Heldere Nacht (the bright light) during the month of November. The opening reception is Friday, Nov. 3, from 6:00 to 9:00pm at 6066 Maple Street in downtown Benson in conjunction with Benson First Friday.

This photography exhibition is a benefit for Wings of Hope Cancer Support Center in honor of Jeanne's parents - Wesley A. and Judith C. Brown (Pittack). 100% of sales will benefit the nonprofit, which provides free emotional, mental health and practical support services for those on the cancer journey - including patients, their care partners, family, friends and survivors.

This exhibition was inspired by a series of dreams and visions and honors Judith Brown (Pittack), who was a primary influence on Jeanne as an artist who understood life as a spiritual experience reflected everywhere in our reality. "Heldere Nacht" is a place of light in between and woven through our shared realities. Jeanne's maternal great-grandmother's family originated from the Netherlands.

Jeanne is a portrait, events and fine art photographer who shoots in digital and analog, using modern and historic printing methods. Her style is primarily lowlight and dramatic. She is a freelance photographer at G-Knee Photo and is a resident artist at Hot Shops Art Center in downtown Omaha. She lives in rural Plattsmouth, Neb., with her husband, four children, two cats and a dog. Jeanne started taking photos as a child when she was gifted a pinhole camera by her grandmother. Both of her parents were artists and she was very fortunate to grow up in an environment full of all the wonders of this “other world.”

De Heldere Nacht runs through Nov. 25 at Ming Toy Gallery. Regular hours are Wednesday and Friday from noon to 5pm, Thursday from 5 to 8pm, Saturday from 9am to 1pm and by appointment (call or text 402.681.1901).
